چکیده
Abstract. In a warming climate, periods with lower than average precipitation will increase in frequency and intensity. During such periods, known as meteorological droughts, the decline annual runoff may be proportionally larger corresponding precipitation. Reasons behind this exacerbation of deficit during dry remain largely unknown, challenges predictability when occur future how intense it be. work, we tested hypothesis that droughts is common feature across climates, driven by evaporation enhancement. Entropy Budget for Hawking Evaporation
Blackbody radiation, emitted from a furnace and described by a Planck spectrum, contains (on average) an entropy of 3.9± 2.5 bits per photon. Since normal physical burning is a unitary process, this amount of entropy is compensated by the same amount of “hidden information” in correlations between the photons. The importance of this result lies in the posterior extension of this argument to the...
متن کاملReservoir Operation During Droughts
Drought is an inevitable part of the world’s climate. It occurs in wet as well as in dry regions. Therefore, planning for drought and mitigating its impacts is essential. In this study, a hedging rule is developed using the zero/one mixed integer-programming approach. Furthermore, some procedures are introduced to ease the computational burden inherent in integer programming. Hedging rules are ...
متن کاملOptimal Budget Deficit Rules
This paper discusses the problem of the optimal determination of budget deficit limits in cases where the fiscal authority wishes to keep the budget deficit close to a reference value. It is assumed that the fiscal authority minimizes the expected discounted value of squared deviations from the reference value. Lump-sum and proportional intervention costs are considered. This paper is also an e...
